The importance of a quality education cannot be stressed enough. It enriches generations and allows them to grow. Class Acts! looks to reward those that strive for excellence in their present lives and yet maintain a vision for the future. We at Murphy Oil and the Superior Daily Telegram look forward to the creativity and innovative thought that is sure to come out of Class Acts!, as Douglas County Students strive to make a world of difference.
We are proud to kick off the 2007/2008 Class Acts! Program. We welcome you to join us as we explore the creativity and imagination of Douglas County Students!

The program is designed to honor those students and teachers striving to achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Twice a month throughout the school year, Murphy Oil and the Superior Daily Telegram will be rewarding Douglas County classes with a $500 grant to utilize in their classrooms. At any point in the year, Murphy Oil and the Daily Telegram will accept, and review monthly, nominations from any K-12 class in Douglas County. Proposals may be submitted by individual or joint classes. Class Acts! will be looking for innovative programs that students are designing or undertaking, capable of making a positive difference in their classroom or community.

Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of local judges and two $500 grants will be awarded on a monthly basis throughout the school year. Winning proposals will demonstrate the highest level of creativity, the greatest educational impact and reach the largest audience. Proposals should also include what the students will learn and how it will fit into their classroom. The $500 grants will then be used by the winning classes to help implement their programs.

An awards ceremony will also be held the first week of every month, where the winning classes will be presented Class Acts! trophies to display in their classrooms for the month they receive the award. The Superior Daily Telegram will then highlight the winning classes in its weekly column and track the development of their projects. Students are also invited to submit articles, updates and photos related to their project to the Superior Daily Telegram.

Throughout the year, special recognitions and awards will be granted. Please visit our Web site often to obtain project updates, see the innovative classroom projects in our community, and learn about additional opportunities such as the special Class Acts! Principal and Field Trip grants.
